Moisture-permeable plastic film medical fixed dressing is a commonly used medical material in clinic. It needs to have good moisture permeability, and its moisture permeability rate should be higher than the moisture volatilization rate of the skin. The amount of water in normal skin in 24 hours is 240 ~ 1800 g/m2 (37°C). For water vapor permeable film dressings, if the moisture vapor transmission rate of the dressing is lower than the moisture volatilization rate of the skin, water vapor may accumulate between the skin and the dressing. Severe contact with the skin can affect wound healing and skin-to-skin adhesion.

YY/T 0148–2006 “General Requirements for Medical Adhesive Tapes” specifies the general requirements for various medical adhesive tapes (also called adhesive bandages) in contact with the body surface or wound surface, including adhesive dressings. This standard stipulates that if the tape exhibits water vapor permeability (such as a water vapor permeable film dressing), the water vapor permeability per 24 hours should not be less than 500g/m2·24h, the test of water vapor permeability The method is described in appendix c. This method adopts the principle of weighing method, but the measurement process of manual weighing reduces the *cenzura* of the test.


The Water Vapour Permeability Tester is based on the cup method. It is a professional film sample water vapor transmission rate tester. It is suitable for measuring the water vapor transmission rate of plastic films, composite films and other films, sheets, medical and construction materials. By measuring the water vapor transmission rate, the technical indicators of the material can be controlled and adjusted to meet the different requirements of product applications. The four moisture-permeable cups configured in the system can be tested independently, the test process does not interfere with each other, and the test results are displayed independently. The temperature and humidity control has a wide range, high precision and automation, which can meet the test requirements under various test conditions. The innovative circulating dehumidification system can effectively prevent the formation of humidity gradient above the moisture permeable cup and ensure the *cenzura* of the test.

Test principle: Using the test principle of the moisture permeable cup weighing method, at a certain temperature, a specific humidity difference is formed on both sides of the sample, and the water vapor enters the drying surface through the sample in the moisture permeable cup. By measuring the change of the weight of the moisture permeable cup with time, parameters such as the water vapor transmission rate of the sample can be obtained.

Testing: The instrument complies with many international standards: GB/T 1037, GB/T 16928, TAPPI ISO 2528, ASTM E96, ASTM D1653 T464, DIN 53122–1, JIS Z0208, YBB00092003.
