UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said that ending the coronavirus pandemic 11 billion doses of the vaccine are needed to cover 70% of the world's population.pg slot
“Showing your willingness to donate vaccines and support funding is gratifying. but still not enough We need at least 11 billion doses of the vaccine to cover 70 percent of the world's population and stop the epidemic,” Guterres said at the opening ceremony of a ministerial meeting at the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. (HLPF), a high-level forum to review the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
“Everyone, wherever they are, needs access to the COVID-19 vaccine. including infection detection, treatment and assistance.”
Mr Guterres said.
The UN secretary-general also stated that “the development and implementation of the vaccine including the part that has passed the mechanism for equal distribution of vaccines around the world, including the ACT-Accelerator project. And the Kowax project helps to create all hope.”
“But even so Access to these tools is not yet universal. especially vaccines both globally and domestically. The global immunization disparity threatens us all. because when the virus mutates It can be more contagious, or it can be more severe.”
Mr Guterres said.
“We need a comprehensive vaccination plan on a global scale. to at least double the amount of vaccine production as well as ensuring equitable distribution of vaccines through the Kowax project. Coordination and budget support including supporting the national immunization program.”
